Best Graduation Gifts For Aerospace Engineers

It is difficult to find gifts that will appeal to Aerospace and Aeronautical Engineers. These engineers are drawn to unique, practical and functional gifts. Before switching to aerospace materials, my first major was aerospace engineering. I set out to create what I believe are the best gifts to give to students and professionals in aerospace engineering.

This gift guide will help you shop faster and bring a smile on the face of an aerospace engineer, whether it’s for graduation, Christmas, or birthday gifts. You can show them that you care about their passion for engineering by supporting them as they search for the perfect gift.

This is a collection of my favorite internet sites. Some of these are Genius Lab Gear inventions, while others we just love the idea of. This page contains some external links. 1. The Pocket Engineer Wallet Ruler & Unit Conversion Reference

This is the most useful and unique tool you can carry around for anyone in aerospace engineering. It is the same size as a credit card, and it contains all the functionality and information an aerospace engineer needs on a daily basis at work and school.

Laser-engraved and laser-cut stainless steel comes with a thick black enamel coating that is reminiscent of stealth bombers. This coating prevents scratching and can withstand years of abuse. This is one of the most geeky gadget gifts you can get for an aerospace engineer. The links below will take you to Amazon or our website.

2. rOtring/Staedtler Mechanical Pencil

Aerospace engineers consider mechanical pencils their #1 daily necessity. These pencils allow you to draw precise diagrams for professional or homework work and also offer the possibility of fine adjustments using the eraser. While mechanical pencils still exist, aerospace engineers are increasingly using touchscreens.

This is why the “The” is my new favorite.rOtring 800 Retractable mechanical Pencil (0.5 mm)This one is. This oneTurns from a pencil into a stylusThe tip can be changed quickly and easily, so it doesn’t poke holes in your pocket every day like other models. This pencil is truly a top-end mechanical pencil that will make an excellent gift.

Engineers also love Staedtler. This model is cheaper and will last a long time, but just isn’t convertible to a stylus. Both can be used together.

3. Funny Engineering-themed Word Magnets

A complete line of engineering and science-themed word magnets was released recently. We even made one set for engineers! Each pack includes 144 tiles, each carefully designed by a PhD in the field. These tiles make a great gift for aerospace engineers (they don’t even need another mug!) These are great for students who want to express their technical side, but not be work-oriented.

You can also order it on our site together with our latest “Engineering is for Everyone” sticker and The Pocket Engineer.

4. Rocketbook Matrix cloud-connected reusable paper notebook

This is a brilliant invention. Rocketbook finally solved the problem of merging your hand-written notes into your favorite digital services. Simply use the app to snap a photo with your pages and then the app will send the page to the digital destination you select. You can use this app to send specific emails, OneNote and Evernote, Google Drive, Dropbox, Google Drive, Dropbox, or Google Drive. You want a quick way to send notes directly to your boss or colleague via email? This is what you are looking for.

The Rocketbook Matrix is my personal favorite because it’s designed for more technical work. The notebook has 30 pages of graph paper, one lined page for notes and an inside cover with a ruler. Did I mention they are resuable? Use their “Pilot Frixion” pens and then wipe the page with a damp cloth after uploading your notes to use it all over again (and win one for the environment! You can find them here.

You can order it from Amazon if it isn’t available on their website (which it often is)

5. Rocket-shaped cocktail shaker Gifts For Aerospace Engineers

For the cocktail connoisseur, this rocket-shaped cocktail shaker is a subtle way to show off their love for aerospace. It is actually similar to SpaceX’s Starship rocket, which will be used to transport astronauts to Mars in the next decade. It is more elegant than mugs and t-shirts that make bad engineering jokes. You will receive many more compliments.

6. The best books for aeronautical engineers and aerospace enthusiasts to read for pleasure (not books!)

Engineers can get caught up in the cycle of reading technical documents, textbooks, and journal articles. It is important to break the cycle of reading technical documents, textbooks, and journal articles every now and again. Here are some of our favorite engineering books that we recommend to engineers and scientists.

The Martian by Andy Weir Gifts For Aerospace Engineers

This book is a favorite of ours and one that engineers and scientists alike will love to read. It’s a very technical book with a great plot, but it isn’t too dramatic (except for a few moments at the end). This fiction book is unlike any other. It uses precise calculations, estimates and scientific principles to help people live. Mark Watney will be your hero and you’ll feel inspired by the possibility that your technical skills could save your life.

Elon Musk: Tesla and SpaceX and the Quest for a Fantastic Future

This biography of Elon Musk, the founder of SpaceX, quickly became a bestseller for its engaging look at the quintessential engineering hero. This biography is not boring. Musk’s life is full of visionary endeavors, setbacks, and out-of-the-box thinking. This will encourage any astronaut or aerospace engineer to go further in their work.

Skunk Works: My Personal Memoir of Years at Lockheed by Ben Rich

Any engineer who is interested in aerospace technology will be frightened by the name Skunk Works. It is the American standard for innovation. This book is the story of Lockheed Martin’s top-secret “Skunkworks” engineering projects that contributed to the victory in the Cold War. It was written by the Head of the Division for over two decades.

It covers the most important high-pressure, high stakes, ultra-secretive engineering projects as well as the technological game of Chess the USA played with the Soviet Union during the 1970’s and 80’s. It contains testimonials and anecdotes from top-ranking government officials as well as pilots involved in revolutionary projects such the SR-71 Blackbird and F-116 Stealth Fighter, and U-2 spy aircraft.

This book was a joy to read and I laughed so hard at almost every chapter. This book is a great read for anyone who loves problem solving and cutting-edge technology. You will learn valuable lessons about managing teams of engineers and scientists to achieve almost impossible goals.

Tom Wolfe: The Right Stuff Gifts For Aerospace Engineers

This book is a classic for aerospace engineers. This book tells the true story of American astronauts starting as post-war test pilots and ending up with the successes of the Mercury program to the monumental achievements of the Apollo missions. Some of the stories may be unbelievable, but they are true. This book is ideal for inspiring students in aerospace engineering or for those who are seasoned professionals looking to relive the golden age rocketry.

7. Microsoft Flight Simulator

This is the best game for aviation geeks. This game has been around for more than a decade. This newest version was released in 2020 and lets you fly dozens of real aircraft in the most realistic way possible. Fly around real terrain and land at real airports. This is a great option for anyone looking to obtain a pilot’s licence in the future. Amazon’s lower ratings are mostly due to technical issues. It shouldn’t matter if they don’t have a reliable computer.

If you’re really going all-out, get them the realistic flight control console for the full experience ($350+).

9.  Gifts For Aerospace Engineers

Stirling engines are heat engines that operate by the cyclic compression/expansion of gas at different temperatures. This results in a net conversion heat energy into mechanical work. This technology is a niche one with a loyal following from aerospace enthusiasts and gearheads. Although they have been tried by NASA and other organizations, they have not found widespread use in aviation.

This precision-crafted engine uses ethanol as fuel and cycles the cylinders to run the airplane propeller at high speeds. They can add fuel and give the propeller a spin, and have an operational aircraft engine!
